Why do people still believe?
There are many consistencies that are seen in all Bigfoot descriptions. People who believe in cryptids like to pinpoint these coincidneces as evidence to the existence of these creatures. Since they are all described the same, that must mean that everyone is seeing the same creature, right? That is the proof that some people are bringing to the table. However, these believers are only looking at the evidence that they think is relevant, and then they just discard whatever goes against their theories. This makes these believers perfect prey for hoaxers. It doesn't take strong evidence to prove that these creatures are real because that it what some people already WANT to believe.

Confirmation bias is a big issue when looking at these similarities. It is very likely that is some, if not a lot of reports of cryptid sightings, the creature is simply a misidentified known animal. Even though people look at similarities in sightings as hard evidence, the possibility for misperceptions corrupts all validity.
